The UP Companies Awarded AGC of Missouri Safety Awards For Fairfield Inn & Suites, Enterprise Center and Boys & Girls Clubs Projects

The UP Companies (UPCO), which includes Power UP Electrical Contractors, Square UP Builders and Hustle UP Laborers, proudly announces that it has received four Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGCMO) 2019 Safety Awards, including a Zero Recordable Accidents award and three Outstanding Safety Performance awards. The awards were presented during the AGCMO Safety Banquet held Feb. 20 in Bridgeton, Missouri.

“I am extremely proud of our management team and all of our team members who purposely focus on safety excellence every day on the job,” said Steve Richardson, Corporate Safety Director at UPCO. “This award and our dedication to safety lends credibility to the professionalism and qualifications of UPCO. This is truly a team effort by a lot of people who have a passion for their work and consideration for the well-being of their fellow worker.”

The awards include:

UPCO

  • Outstanding Safety Performance (25,000 – 50,000 hours) for work performed on the new Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis Teen Center of Excellence in Ferguson, Missouri.

The $12.4 million Teen Center of Excellence is located at 9200 W. Florissant Ave., an area where Ferguson gained national attention in 2014 for violent protests following the fatal police shooting of African American teen Michael Brown. The 26,856-square-foot, three-level facility provides a safe place for area youth ages 12-18 to gather and participate in a variety of positive activities. The center includes a nutrition education center, gymnasium, teen lounge, outdoor garden, auditorium, music and art studio, office space, intellectual commons, innovation center, and outdoor basketball and activity court. The center opened on Oct. 3, 2019.

Power UP

  • Zero Recordable Accidents and Outstanding Safety Performance (10,000 – 25,000 hours) for work performed on the new Fairfield Inn & Suites in Downtown St. Louis.

The modern, five-story hotel features 136 rooms and suites and 2,000 square feet of meeting rooms, a lobby lounge and full-service bar, outdoor patio gathering space, fitness room and business center. The hotel was designed to accommodate existing demand for lodging as well as anticipated growth in the area. The hotel opened on Feb. 13, 2020.

Square UP

  • Outstanding Safety Performance (up to 10,000 hours) for work on the Enterprise Center Seating & Suites project in Downtown St. Louis.

Square UP replaced all the seating (19,260 seats) in the Enterprise Center, home of St. Louis Blues Hockey in Downtown St. Louis as well as performed carpentry work renovations in all the center’s suites. The project was completed in September 2019.
